Brando
Â
16-Year Old Male
Boxer Hound Mix
I started regular bodywork sessions with Brando when he was 11 years old. Brando was highly sensitive to touch along his spine. X-rays revealed that he had a bullet embedded between two of his ribs that contributed to the nerve sensitivity. Brando had chronic anal gland dysfunction which required 2 surgeries. He was on a strict diet and received allergy shots and topical medication due to severe food and environmental allergies. Brando was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease shortly after he was rescued. As he aged, this resulted in atrophied core muscles giving him a "swayback" posture and chronic tremors. Like many senior dogs, Brando had bouts of vestibular disease during the last year of his life. During flareups he needed the support of a brace to keep his balance when walking.
